ICx Tactical Platforms, the maker of customized deterrence, security and surveillance towers, is moving its Georgia operations from Forest Park to Forsyth County and expanding, it was announced Thursday.

The company plans to relocate from Forest Parkway to The Meadows, near Ga. 400 and McFarland Road, with a target move-in date of January or February.

Over the next few years, the company has pledged a capital investment of about $2 million and 60 jobs -- welcome news in Forsyth County, a wealthy bedroom community looking to expand its commercial base.

“ICx Tactical Platforms is a solid home run for our community, both as a perfect fit for our targeted marketing strategy for economic development and the availability of a highly trained work force,” said David Seago, chairman of the chamber’s economic development committee.

The company, formerly New Heights, specialized in outdoor recreation when it launched in 1992, but it started transitioning into security in 1996. Among its first major customers were the U.S. Border Patrol and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
