If you think 1-gigabit high speed Internet is fast, try increasing that benchmark by a multiple of 10.
Comcast Business will announce today it has partnered with the Georgia 400 Business Corridor in Alpharetta to bring the group fiber capable of download speeds of 10-gigabits per second.
The network, which will cover about 10 miles in one of the metro area’s fastest growing technology communities, will available to hospitals, schools, private businesses data centers and Fortune 500 companies in the area.
“With a business environment known for offering affordable commercial real estate and a strong workforce, we’re proud that the Georgia 400 Business Corridor draws some of the world’s most technology-forward organizations,” Brandon Beach, president and CEO of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.
Comcast says its 10-gigabit plan for the corridor provides better network security data will travel on a dedicated, closed network; the bandwidth can handle multiple employees on laptops, tablets and phones; hospitals can better share big medical files such as MRIs; and companies that service online transaction can do so in fractions of a second.
The cable giant said the network will serve businesses along Westside Parkway, from Old Milton Parkway to Haynes Bridge Road; Haynes Bridge Road to North Point Parkway; North Point Parkway to Mansell Road; and Mansell Road to Westside Parkway.
Comcast is also delivering 10-gigabit speeds to businesses in the Stockbridge area.
