Georgia business: Candor plans 675 jobs in Rome

Rome-based Candor has announced plans to add 675 jobs over the next five years in Floyd County, officials said on Thursday.

Candor, which is not yet a year old, has developed online tools for consumers to find healthcare coverage, and also links to “insurance agencies, health insurance carriers, and health care providers,” officials said.

The jobs are part of a $39 million investment the company says it is making by 2023.

“We launched Candor to make health insurance simple to buy and easy to understand for this population,” said John Good, the company’s chief operating officer and co-founder, in a statement. “This is essential, because 97 percent of Americans don’t know what their health insurance covers, and 63 percent of bankruptcies are due to unexpected health expenses.”

The company currently has grown to more than 40 jobs in Floyd County, said a statement from the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
