Georgia’s Republican members of Congress reported they were safe Wednesday after a train carrying them to their annual party retreat collided with a dump truck in rural Virginia.

Spokespeople for almost every member of the delegation reported their bosses were fine, if not a bit rattled by the crash, which occurred near Crozet, Va. Several lawmakers were traveling with members of their family, including Tifton Republican Austin Scott, who was with his wife and young daughter.

House and Senate Republicans were on their way to West Virginia for a joint party retreat to sketch out their legislative agenda for 2018.

The train reportedly collided with a truck carrying several passengers. Arizona U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake told reporters that three people were aboard the truck and that one person was dead.

Cassville Republican U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk was on the train with his wife Desiree when all of a sudden he heard a loud crash.

“The train suddenly slowed down, which threw everybody from their seat,” he told our Cox colleague Justin Gray. “There were some people in the aisles, so it was clear something had happened.”

The U.S. Capitol Police said it is on the scene and is working with local law enforcment officials.
