Sandy Springs Mexican and seafood restaurants are closing to make way for a new American concept.
Tin Can Fish House and Oyster Bar will close this month at 227 Sandy Springs Place in Sandy Springs. An anouncement about the closure was posted on the restaurant’s Facebook pages:
Brother and sister Nik Panagopoulos and Arte Antoniades owned and operated Tin Can as well as Teela Taqueria next door, which has been sold to new owners. Tin Can opened in 2010.
The pair also owned the now-shuttered Fishmonger on Roswell Road.
Taking Tin Can’s place will be Bogartz Food Artz, a new concept from chef Bruce Bogartz and his brother, Scott that tags itself as “Southern cuisine with a global flair.”
Bogartz previously operated a food truck and did culinary consulting work in Knoxville.
“I’ve always been a brick and mortar guy,” Bogartz said. “And the time was right.”
Bogartz, who is an Emory University graduate, said the name of the restaurant doesn’t tie him to working in a specific cuisine. He said he wants to “create great, interesting food that’s approachable.”
He’s looking at creating composed dishes such as salads, small plates and sandwiches, with a large portion of the menu serving as an elevated meat and three concept.
On the beverage side, look for premium drinks, and fresh-squeezed juices.
Bogartz said the restaurant will also offer a Sunday brunch menu.
