Two police officers are getting a lot of praise for going above and beyond to rescue a dog who got tangled in weeds and fishing line in a lagoon.

Milwaukee Police Officers Joe Pringola and Mike Smith were at a park helping kids who were having trouble fishing at a lagoon, according to a Facebook post by the department.

The officers noticed a dog had jumped into the water and needed help. After reaching into the lagoon and rescuing the dog once, it immediately ran back toward the water and jumped right back in.

This time, Spingola went in after the dog, after noticing it was struggling to stay afloat, getting tangled in weeds.

Thanks to Spingola’s quick thinking, the dog survived and was taken to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission.
