Get ready for some Southern Spanish-inspired tapas in Old Fourth Ward.

Buena Vida Tapas & Sol restaurant is slated to open in late 2019 in the North and Line development at 385 N. Angier Ave. NE. The project comes from Adam Berlin and Juan Calle, the owners of Big Sky Buckhead and concepts in Athens.

The restaurant “aims to combine a long time passion for Spanish culture and food with their past success of fun social scenes with buzzy bars to create a new, elevated concept where excellent food brings people together,” according to a press release.

The menu will feature dishes influenced by Berlin and Calles’ travels. Chef Juan Hormiga, who has managed kitchens at restaurants in Ibiza and Madrid, is moving to Atlanta from Spain to oversee the kitchen at Buena Vida.

The beverage menu will include a selection of cocktails and local beers. Berlin is finishing his certification in Spanish wines which will be used to finalize the beverage program.

The space offers a large patio cornered by the Eastside Beltline and opening onto Historic Fourth Ward Park. The design “is influenced by the contemporary, bohemian-chic enclaves of Ibiza and the south of Spain and Mediterranean coast.” Look for two story windows and high ceilings around the bar, “lush plants, vibrant bohemian colors and contemporary art.”

Designer Meredith Petty will furnish the restaurant with items imported from Europe and Turkey by Lotus Design LLC. E + E Architecture is also working on the space. working with the team to finalize the space.

Buena Vida will seat approximately 190 guests, including 50 patio seats.
