ATHENS – The honors continue to flow in for Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and sophomore Marshall Morgan got some major kudos from the SEC for the first time in his young career.

Murray on Monday was named the Offensive Player of the Week by the SEC for the fourth time in his career.  The fifth-year senior from Tampa this week was also named the Walter Camp national offensive player of the week for the second time this season, the Athlon Sports National Player of the Week and the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer and National Quarterback of the Week.

Murray went 20-for-34 for 298 yards and four touchdowns while also adding a rushing score.  He connected with Justin Scott-Wesley for a game-winning 25-yard touchdown at the 1:47 mark in the final quarter.

Picking up victories over two top-10 teams in the last three games, Murray moved into the No. 2 spot in school history for career passing yardage at 11,429 (former Bulldog David Greene holds the school and SEC records at 11,528).  Murray now has 11,659 yards of total offense, which is also No. 2 in SEC history.

Meanwhile, Morgan received the first conference honor of his career after being named the SEC special teams player of the week. Morgan, who was also named the CFPA national place-kicker of the week, scored 14 points in the Bulldogs’ three-point win over the Tigers.  He connected on all five of his PATs and was 3-for-3 on field goals, including a career-long 55 yarder that put Georgia up by a touchdown in the third quarter.

These awards marked the fourth and fifth SEC honors in four game weeks for the Bulldogs. Murray was also named the offensive player of the week after the win over No. 6 South Carolina, sophomore tailback Todd Gurley garnered the same award following the matchup with  No. 8 Clemson and freshman receiver Reggie Davis was the Freshman of the Week after his performance versus North Texas.

Nooner ahead for Bulldogs: Georgia will get a break from the primetime spotlight when it returns home after Tennessee to face Missouri on Oct. 12. ESPN has selected the game for broadcast but has decided to put it in its 12 noon slot that day.

It will mark Georgia's second appearance on ESPN this season. Overall, the Bulldogs have appeared on ESPN 60 times and posted a record of 30-29-1.

The sixth-ranked Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0 SEC) travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the Vols (3-2, 0-1) on Oct. 5.  CBS will televise the game in its coveted 3:30 p.m. time slot for the second consecutive week.

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
