Four days, three big football games: Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech on Thursday night; LSU at Georgia on Saturday, and the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night.

You ask: Who’s going to win?

I say: Locals sweep.

You say: “Bradley, you’re a homer.”

I say: Perhaps, but at least I’m being consistent. I picked G-Tech, UGA and the Falcons to win these particular games before the various seasons commenced. Might as well ride with them now. (As I’ve mentioned a time or two, I’m reluctant to change a prediction for the basic reason that I hate being wrong twice on the same game.)

About Tech-Tech: I’ve seen both in person, and the Hokies look pretty much the way they did last season, when they were lucky to break .500. They can defend but they can’t score. (They needed three overtimes, the first two of which were scoreless, to beat Marshall on Saturday.) It’s possible V-Tech will hold G-Tech to two touchdowns and win 17-14. Possible, but not nearly probable.

About Georgia-LSU: I’m not yet sold on the Tigers’ spruced-up offense. I am sold on the Bulldogs’ ability to score against anybody. The Georgia defense still has much to prove, but I’m not sure the Bulldogs haven’t already played two teams better than LSU.

About Falcons-Patriots: The Falcons actually played pretty well in Miami, except for the part where they lost. Anyone expecting the Pats to come here and score 40 points is apt to be disappointed – they’ve managed a total of 59 points in their first three games, and they’re 22nd in the league in passing yardage. And the Falcons, lest we forget, are pretty good at home.

So those are my picks, and before you scoff I’d note that each local is favored: Tech by a touchdown, Georgia by a field goal and the Falcons by 1 ½ points. If I’m a homer, what does that make the folks in Vegas?

From myajc.com, our premium site: Falcons outplay the Dolphins but lose anyway.

Also from myajc.com: In a game going bad, Tech emerges looking pretty good.

And this: Big day for Vad Lee and Tech, but the real work starts now.

And this: Proving a point, the Bulldogs up and win a big one.

And this: Georgia Tech flirts with 100 points, settles for 70.

And this: A game-by-game look at the Falcons' season.

And this: A game-by-game look at Tech's season.

And this: Pigskin picks - Tech wins eight games; UGA wins SEC East.

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
