Sack Schultz 2013 now open! (Hawaii, anyone?)

By Jeff Schultz

Hello again. It’s almost college football season, at least for those of us who are not being investigated by the NCAA for selling autographs, even if it’s nonsensical to sell your autograph when you already drive a Mercedes Benz as a college sophomore and you’re on a full scholarship and you don’t need walk-around money because your parents are really, really rich.

This is all hypothetical, of course.

So who do you like in the Texas A&M-Rice game?

The imminent return of college football means the imminent return of “Weekend Predictions.” It also means the return of the “Sack Schultz” contest, where you have the opportunity to pick the outcomes of games better than me, only to fail miserably.

The grand prize for the national winner again this season: a $5,000 trip to Hawaii, including airfare and seven nights of comfortable lounging space in Maui.

The grand prize for the local winner again: two tickets to the Georgia vs. Georgia Tech game and the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Weekly contest winners also get a prize: a $100 gift card from Kroger for the local weekly winners and a gift from “Fathead” for the national weekly winners.

You can register for the contest now at ajc.com/go/sackschultz2013 . The contest begins the first week of the college football regular season and runs through Nov. 30 (the final week before the conference championship games).

And as always: Enjoy second place.

College football

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
