2013 Georgia State in-state commitments

By Doug Roberson

Building a fence around so-and-so is a common recruiting phrase used by coaches new to their schools.

Georgia State coach Trent Miles used a version of building a fence around Georgia when he was introduced in early December.

Well, Miles and his staff are doing just that.

They received two more commitments in the past two days from in-state players, including one earlier today from Gordon Central wide receiver Tyshaun Clemmons, who was reportedly being recruited by Georgia Tech, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee and Arkansas State. Clemmons confirmed his commitment Tuesday night. (See accompanying map). Clemmons had 78 receptions for more than 1,200 yards the past two years. He reportedly runs a sub-4.5 40.

That increases the total to 18 players from Georgia, including two who originally committed when Bill Curry was coach.

The commitments that don’t have ties to the state have connections in other ways.

George Rogers and Gerald Howse played together on the same junior college team in Oklahoma. Keith Rucker, from Cincinnati, was being recruited by Miles’ assistants when they were previously at Indiana State.
