Georgia Tech picked up its third offensive line recruit in row when Gary Brown committed to the Yellow Jackets.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pounder from Tampa, Fla., announced his college decision via Twitter on Monday after returning from a visit to Indiana.

“I committed to Georgia Tech for three reasons,” Brown said in a text message to the AJC on Tuesday night.

“First, the value of the education there is unbeatable. I will be able to pursue my interest in entrepreneurship, as well as get a degree from a well-known school. Secondly, (assistant Mike Sewak) and I have built a great relationship over the past six months, and I really like his coaching style and the players there.

“Thirdly, Georgia Tech offers great business experience because of Fortune 500 companies located in Atlanta.”

Brown also had offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Florida International, Kentucky, Marshall, Maryland, Nebraska, among others, according to his 247sports profile.

Brown is rated as a 3-star and the state’s of Florida’s No. 168 overall prospect, according to the 247 composite rankings. He is Georgia Tech’s third OL commit this month, following West Forsyth High School’s Andrew Marshall and Jake Whitley of North Augusta, S.C.

Georgia Tech has 18 commitments for its 2014 class.

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
