Where will the state’s No. 2 basketball prospect play in college?
Ahmed Hill is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Augusta who is rated as a 4-star and the state’s best player after Effingham County High School forward JaKeenan Gant (who committed to Missouri) in the 247sports composite rankings. But ESPN ranks Hill ahead of Gant.
What about Hill’s recruiting? He’s pretty much kept a low profile but opened up about a lot of topics in an interview with the AJC.
Hill will take official visits to Marquette on Oct. 11 and Missouri on Nov. 1. He will likely go ahead and take a recruiting trip to Indiana on Oct. 4.
The final two spots in Hill’s top five will likely go to Florida State and Florida.
What about Georgia Tech and UGA for the elite prospect? Hill had some very revealing things to say around the 1:20 (1 minute, 20 seconds) mark in the video.
What about the rumor Hill is part of a package deal with Gant (who, again, is committed to Missouri)? We asked.
Hill talks candidly about recruiting in the above video.
Note: Thanks to Ahmed for being a good sport and doing the interview despite our light being too bright for him to look in the direction of the camera. I guess it’s part of being in the spotlight.
Tailback J.J. Green said he can’t say for sure how many times he has heard “you’re one play away from playing” from Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and running backs coach Bryan McClendon.
Here is a clue that your trip to sunny south Florida may not be a carefree vacation: You’re a football team, and you lose one of your starters during warm-ups.
If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
Having been at Georgia four seasons now, soccer coach Steve Holeman doesn’t weird out nearly as much as he once did about playing Ole Miss, where he coached for 15 years.
