One of Atlanta’s top offensive linemen has committed to Georgia Tech.

Andrew Marshall, a 6-foot-4, 265-pounder from West Forsyth High School, committed to Georgia Tech over Duke and Wake Forest on Thursday.

“Georgia Tech felt like home – great education, great facilities, great coaches and excellent football,” Marshall told the AJC.

Why Thursday? "No specific reason made me do it today," he said. "I was just ready to get it done, and Georgia Tech felt like home. So there was no need to keep waiting."

Marshall is Georgia Tech’s second commitment in two days – and both were offensive linemen. The Yellow Jackets only extended an offer to Marshall a couple of weeks ago.

Marshall is rated as a 3-star and the state’s No. 69 overall prospect by the 247 composite rankings. When Marshall was asked if he was finished with recruiting, he said "I'm done with it."

He is commitment No. 17 for Georgia Tech’s 2014 class.

"Coach (Paul Johnson) just said he was excited and glad to have me," Marshall said. "And then he said 'Welcome to the family.'"

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
