Here’s what UGA’s football recruits had to say about the 38-35 loss to Clemson, and Saturday’s showdown with South Carolina:

  • WR Gilbert Johnson of Miami: “We would’ve won if (Malcolm) Mitchell didn’t get hurt.” How do you think UGA will respond against South Carolina? “”This is going to be a big week for us. And I believe we’ll pull it out.”
  • TE Jeb Blazevich of Charlotte: “I honestly don't even know what to say (about the Clemson loss).” How do you think UGA will respond against South Carolina? “I think they will learn from their mistakes and show up in front of the home crowd.”
  • QB Jacob Park of Goose Creek, S.C.: “I think it was an awesome game. I was there. Both teams are going to be contenders this year, but it just came down to who was going to make the mistake first. It just happened to be my team, but i don't think UGA should hang their heads. I think they have a lot of (positives from) that game and, with Aaron Murray, they’ve still got the Dawg!! I think Aaron Murray is going to be ridiculous because of this first-game loss and he's not going to want to lose again. So he’s going to be on it this week at practice. I think UGA will come out strong against USC this week and get a win.”
  • DB Kendall Gant of Lakeland, Fla.: “It was just a minor setback for a major comeback. But overall, it was a good game. It should’ve went to overtime.”
  • Marist DL Kendall Baker: “We looked good, had great opportunities, and played a good game. But we have to take the loss. We have to learn from it to get ready for South Carolina, and we can get that win to get back on our path to the championship. We have to take it one game at a time."
  • DB Shattle Fenteng of Hutchinson junior college: “I think they’re just young. They will progress as the season goes.” How do you think UGA will respond against South Carolina? “I think they will come back stronger and mentally better.”

Adjusments possible for Tech offensive line

In BYU, Georgia Tech will face a defense that is one of the toughest in the nation to score against and has a playmaking force in outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Yellow Jackets even found trouble during pregame

Here is a clue that your trip to sunny south Florida may not be a carefree vacation: You’re a football team, and you lose one of your starters during warm-ups.

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
