Notebook: Auburn's quarterback of the future ... UGA's top targets

By Michael Carvell

This year’s crop of quarterbacks out of the state of Georgia looks pretty good.

Gainesville High School’s Deshaun Watson (committed to Clemson) is the state’s No. 3 overall prospect, while some other seniors headed to the D1 ranks are Wheeler’s Elijah Staley (Mississippi State), Pierce County’s Tyler Harris (SMU) and Sandy Creek’s Cole Garvin (Marshall).

Next year’s class is led by North Cobb junior Tyler Queen, who committed early to Auburn.

  • How good is Queen?
  • What was the recruiting impact of UGA’s win over LSU?
  • How does UGA stand with the state’s top two prospects? 5-stars Lorenzo Carter and Raekwon McMillan? They were both in Athens last week.

We talk about that and more in this week’s Recruiting “Hot Topics”

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
