The cousin of one of the most famous football players in Georgia Tech history won’t be following in the family tradition to play for the Yellow Jackets.
As expected, Caleb Kinlaw, a 3-star running back from Goose Creek, S.C., has flipped his committed from Georgia Tech to Wisconsin.
Kinlaw is related to former Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton, who works for the Yellow Jackets as a recruiting assistant.
"Georgia Tech was good academically but Wisconsin is known as a running back university," Kinlaw told WCBD-TV's Andy Wontor. "In the past 20 years they've had a running back rush for 1,000+ yards every year except one. ... I'll be getting an education of great value and not far behind GT in the engineering department. Everything about that place is pretty calm and hospitable."
Kinlaw committed to Georgia Tech in July. He had shied away from reporters in recent weeks, and it all started to make sense when he was spotted on an official visit to Wisconsin last weekend.
This year as a senior, Kinlaw rushed for 1,057 yards and 19 touchdowns for Goose Creek during the regular season.
With the loss of Kinlaw, Georgia Tech now has 18 commitments for 2014.
Kinlaw is the first recrit to de-commit for this class, while UGA has four de-commits for 2014.
By the way #GaTech has a ton of options to replace Caleb Kinlaw including three uncommitted (2- 4*s) targets who will all OV.— Kelly Quinlan (@Kelly_Quinlan) November 15, 2013
