“Coach Garner invited me down one weekend for an unofficial visit to get a feeling for the campus,” Bellamy said. “When we got down there, nobody knew about the meeting, and Coach Garner wasn’t even there. My coach was (angry) because he wasted gas.
“That kind of cut Georgia out of the picture then because I felt like I wasn’t wanted. After that day, (Garner) didn’t even call and apologize for it. I didn’t hear from Georgia again until I had more than 20 offers. Then after they offered, I didn’t hear much from them after that.
“My recruiting was handled poorly but everything else except for that about Georgia I love.”
Bellamy is suddenly considering UGA again after a recent turn of events: Garner was hired away by Auburn, the Bulldogs desperately need a defensive end after the defection of Mustafaa, and two coaches that played a pivotal role in recruiting Bellamy to Florida State are now gone from the Seminoles.

“When Coach Garner left, it opened the door for Georgia,” Bellamy said. “And now they’re getting Coach (Chris) Wilson from Mississippi State, who has been recruiting me since the very beginning. During the last contact period, Coach Wilson came to my school and told me he still wanted me to visit Mississippi State, even though I was committed.”
Bellamy is also high on UGA defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, who he says gave him the best presentation out of any college with a film session during another unofficial visit with the Bulldogs.
“Coach Grantham loves me, he feels like Georgia messed up my recruiting earlier, and he’s happy to get a second chance,” Bellamy said.
Bellamy will visit Florida State this weekend, Tennessee on Jan. 18, UGA on Jan. 15 and either UCLA, Clemson or NC State on the final weekend before signing day.
