Georgia Tech RB target commits to Miami

Corn Elder, the 4-star “athlete” from Nashville, Tenn., said that he’s committed to Miami on Twitter on Wednesday.

Georgia Tech was among the finalists for Elder, who took an official visit with the Yellow Jackets on the final weekend before signing day. Elder was also considering Auburn, UCLA and Ohio State, among others. He was projected to play running back at Tech.

Here was Elder’s tweet on Wednesday:

“Just committed to the university of Miami been my favorite school since I was little #blessed glad this over with"

Georgia Tech signed 14 recruits last week, and could add another one or two before this summer. Meanwhile, UGA has 32 signees, and the Bulldogs are still listed as a finalist by JC DT Toby Johnson, who will announce on Friday. However, there are a couple of reports saying that UGA is no longer recruiting Johnson.

PREP SCHOOL: Former M.L. King High School coach Mike Carson says he is in process of setting up a prep school football program in the Atlanta area called Georgia Prep Sports Academy. Carson says he will talk to Morris Brown College officials next month about the use of facilities for practices, rooming and boarding. Carson hopes to field a roster of 100 and 125 players to play an 11-game schedule next season. More from Carson: It will cost each player around $12,595 to attend the prep school and play football for one semester; some financial help may be available for individual players, depending on the situation; players will take ACT/SAT prep classes and have the option of enrolling in classes at a local technical college; and you can find out more information by visiting this WEBSITE or sending an email to Carson at carsoncarson11@gmail.com

TWITTER RECRUITING: Now that signing day is over, more college coaches are joining Twitter. Again, Twitter is perhaps the No. 1 online tool for recruiting, even ahead of Facebook. Why is critical, vital, and ultra-important for a coach to have a Twitter presence? Because all of the recruits are on Twitter. That’s the new and cool online hangout. If a college head coach or assistant is (1) not on Twitter and (2) not actively using it with a tweet every day or every other day, they are hurting their school’s recruiting efforts and marketability. Every head coach should be on it, even if they have a sports information intern or graduate assistant run the account.

Yellow Jackets even found trouble during pregame

Here is a clue that your trip to sunny south Florida may not be a carefree vacation: You’re a football team, and you lose one of your starters during warm-ups.

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
