Why UGA? “It was a very hard and difficult decision. My parents and I took some time to talk it over because they wanted to make sure I was making the right decision, and that it was 100 percent where I wanted to be. The deciding factor was that Georgia was closer to home, and I could still get a great education there.”

Things to know: Dukes committed early to Louisville, and then switched after he got a summer offer from UGA. He became a priority for the Bulldogs after they missed on another LB target (Buford’s Korie Rogers, who committed to Clemson) … As a junior at Tucker, Dukes had 78 tackles, including 11 tackles for losses
They said it: “Detrick Dukes is probably one of the more underrated prospects in the state of Georgia simply because he’s so physical. He loves contact, and he loves flying down the field to make the big hit. He’s put together like a linebacker should be, and he has good length with his arms. He’s still learning the position at linebacker after playing some defensive line as a sophomore. He plays for a good program at Tucker, where the kids learn how to play fast. He’s a really good athlete who doesn’t shy away from the contact. He seems like he enjoys the contact, and you always want those type of guys.” – UGASports.com’s Jake Rowe
Something people are surprised to know? “I enjoyed reading and listening to music. My favorite book that I read was Twilight. All of the Twilight books are pretty good. I’ve always liked vampires and demonic stuff. I’m interested in that kind of stuff.”

In BYU, Georgia Tech will face a defense that is one of the toughest in the nation to score against and has a playmaking force in outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy.
Tailback J.J. Green said he can’t say for sure how many times he has heard “you’re one play away from playing” from Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and running backs coach Bryan McClendon.
Here is a clue that your trip to sunny south Florida may not be a carefree vacation: You’re a football team, and you lose one of your starters during warm-ups.
If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
