Home Depot squelched rumors circulating on gaming blogs and community forums that the Atlanta-based home improvement retailer plans to sell Sony’s new PlayStation 4 when it comes out next month.
“No. Just rumors,” Home Depot spokesman Stephen Holmes said when reached Tuesday.
The website Gamepur.com recently posted images of “full PlayStation 4 demo kiosks” at a Home Depot store (it doesn’t say where) and said the retailer was allowing players to try the out. The website cited comments posted on Reddit by someone identified as Ldominguez1986, who said a friend saw PS4s being set up “in Lawn & Garden.” Reddit is a social site that allows registered users to submit content.
Home Depot sells Sony equipment, but its limited to surveillance cameras and digital clocks and radios.
Sony plans to begin selling the PS4 in North America on Nov. 15 for $399 and in Europe and Australia on Nov. 29. It’s expected to be about $100 cheaper than Microsoft’s Xbox One. console. Techradar has the latest on the newest PlayStation.
