It appears Apple is ready to expand its two color options for the next generation iPhone to include a gold one.

The first to report the speculation was iMore.com, followed by TechCrunch, 9to5Mac and AllThingsD. Tjhey said a gold iPhone 5S will be among options that have only included white and black . The newest iPhone is expected to be introduced Sept. 10, according iMore.com.

According to AllThingsD, “think champagne, not ingot” in envisioning the gold tone. Apple could be going for the gold to attract more buyers in places like China, which is big on anything gold. “China’s luxury goods market is expected to grow about 40 percent over the next decade. One engine driving that? Gold jewelry sales,” AllThingsD reported.

Adding the color isn’t difficult, according to iMore.com: “…gold is among the easiest colors to anodize onto an iPhone. It involves simple chemical reaction, with the possible addition of dye depending on the exact color they want to produce. (True black, conversely, is the hardest, and takes the most time, which is likely why we currently have "slate" instead.)”

Would you purchase a gold iPhone 5S? What other colors should Apple offer?
