For the staff of ajc.com, 2013 is all about taking unconventional risks and stepping up to the challenge. We are being asked daily to take a product that has thrived for some time and give it a “restart.”

So it's only fitting that one of our first reinvigoration initiatives is "Atlanta's Mad About Fitness" -- a new blog that will help you, Atlanta, restart your fitness regimen with simple tips and guides. And I couldn't be more excited to introduce our blogger, B98.5's Madison James.

Madison arrived, or as she says, "finally made it"  in Atlanta in February as the afternoon radio personality at B98.5 (full disclosure, AJC and B98.5 are owned by the same company). She's a radio DJ who enjoys connecting with her listeners and a self-proclaimed fitness addict. Madison is passionate about showing people how to adapt a healthy lifestyle into their everyday lives.

As a NPC National Figure Competitor, Madison knows what a little hard work can do for your body. A former Division I Collegiate athlete, she caught the 'fitness bug' in 2009 as a 'gym rat' who wanted to take her workout to the next level.

But rest assured, this isn't one of those TV shows you watch from the couch -- it's the type of fitness that allows you, regular ol' joe and joann, to make small changes and see results.

Already, Madison has helped change lifestyles and she can't wait to share her knowledge with Atlanta! This isn't some blog where you have none of the food mentioned and you're advised to slave in the gym for hours.

This blog is about how you take a trip to the Marietta Farmer's Market or go for a stroll Piedmont Park and make this "fitness thing" work for you.

We look forward to bringing you Madison's advice, tips, tricks and thoughts on a regular basis, fielding questions and even turning your topic suggestions into one of her next posts.

We, at ajc.com, plan to continue bringing you these types of blogs that you will not find anywhere else. Forums that allow you to engage and learn --who knows, you might just catch the fitness bug like Madison did.

Welcome to "Atlanta's MAD About Fitness."
