A big thanks to MC Michael Cunningham for covering the Danny Ferry press conference Thursday as I underwent my shoulder surgery. Here is the link to his story (subscriber content).

I won’t miss any more time during my recovery although it’ll be slow going typing one-handed for a while. No excuses, right?

The Hawks announced Friday morning that single-game tickets, through games Jan. 10, 2014, will go on sale to the general public Monday. The second half of the season will go on sale starting Dec. 4.

Tickets are available, with no ticketing fees, by visiting www.hawks.com, by calling 866-715-1500 and at the Philips Arena box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.

Among some of the things Ferry said Thursday was there is no timetable for the return of Lou Williams (something you read here two weeks ago). Earlier this week, I re-tweeted Williams’ post of his latest video on his rehab process. He, with a bit of a smile, recited the party line that he will be back “before the All-Star break.” While it’s certain, Williams won’t be ready by the regular-season opener, I suspect he will suit up before February. Williams will be available Monday as the team kicks off training camp with media day.

Another small item was released Thursday. The Hawks announced that the team will hold an open practice, free to the public, at Philips Arena Thursday. Similar to last season, fans can watch the Hawks go through a practice. The doors open at 4 p.m. for the start an hour later.

The practice will feature two teams of current Hawks players scrimmaging during three, 12-minute quarters. Head coach Mike Budenholzer will also do a question-and-answer period during the event. The practice will be streamed live by the team website.

Hard to believe but camp is days away. After Monday’s media day event, the Hawks head to Athens for the first three days of training camp. I will be there. After they return, the scrimmage is Thursday and the exhibition opener at the Heat Oct. 7.

Upcoming, you can read my 5 Things to Watch during training camp on Saturday (online)/Sunday (print) and a feature on Al Horford, the now longest tenured Hawks player, on Sunday/Monday.
