Game thread - Drew concerned with Suns bench scoring

The Hawks have a chance to exact another measure of revenge tonight against the Suns. They played poorly in Phoenix, dropping a 92-97 decision March 1, which started their current slide of six losses in eight games.

The first two losses came at the Suns and the Lakers. The Hawks defeated the Lakers Wednesday.

The key will be how the Hawks contain the Suns bench, according to coach Larry Drew. The Suns bench scored 58 points in their victory as Marcus Morris (16 points), Wesley Johnson (15), Jermaine O’Neal (12) and Markieff Morris (11) all scored in double figures.

“They played well,” Drew said. “We didn’t play very well with our energy. Fourth game of the road trip. They clearly brought the game to us. We did not handle (Goran) Dragic. We let him get away from us early. Our coverages we did not execute very well.

“Then there bench came in and was really good. Guys came in making shots. … We have to do a really good job against their bench.”

One thing in the Hawks’ favor is that the Suns are just 7-26 on the road this season.

“Some teams just play better at home than on the road,” Drew said. “They, meaning team, don’t figure that road out. It’s tough winning on the road. It really is.”

Also:

* The Hawks will start a lineup of Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeShawn Stevenson, Josh Smith and Al Horford. Smith (sprained left knee) and Teague (sprained left ankle) return after missing the victory over the Lakers.

* The Hawks will again wear their throw-back red and black uniform from the 1990s.
