FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons left tackle Sam Baker, who suffered a knee injury against the Patriots, will likely not face the New York Jets on Monday.

Baker, who’s battling through a knee and ankle injury, would get two weeks to heal because the Falcons have a bye week following the game against the Jets.

When approached in the locker room Baker declined to comment because of the team policy against injured players conducting interviews.

Also, linebacker Akeem Dent suffered a sprained right ankle and did not come out of the linebackers’ meeting and into the locker room with the rest of the group today.

The Falcons’ linebacking corps has been hit with injuries as Sean Weatherspoon is out with a sprained right foot and is on re-callable injured reserve. He could return for Week 11. Also, linebacker Paul Worrilow, who started against the Patriots, suffered a knee injury. He was attended the media session.

Omar Gaither made his debut against the Patriots as he played 10 defensive snaps from scrimmage. He was signed, along with Jamar Chaney, after Weatherspoon was injured. He finished with two tackles.

When asked about Baker’s injury, Falcons coach Mike Smith said he’ll have the injury report on Thursday.
