Falcons' Super Bowl odds are dropping in Las Vegas

FLOWERY BRANCH  -  After four games, the Falcons don’t look like Super Bowl contenders any more, according to our gaming pals in Las Vegas at bovada.lv.

The Falcons (1-3) face the New York Jets (2-2) at 8:40 p.m. tonight on "Monday Night Football" at the Georgia Dome.

At the outset of the season, the Falcons, after going 13-3 and reaching the NFC championship game last season, were considered Super Bowl contenders. They were given 12-to-1 odds by Las Vegas oddsmakers. Last week, the odds were dropped to 33-to-1.

At least, they are not Jacksonville, who were taken off the board at 5,000-to-1 entirely.

NFC teams Seattle ( 9-to-2), New Orleans (9-1), San Francisco (12-1), Green Bay (14-1) Chicago (28-1) and Dallas (28-1) all have better odds than the Falcons.

Falcons fold late against Jets rookie QB Geno Smith

For the second time this season, a young quarterback beat the Falcons on the final drive.Miami’s Ryan Tannehill did it two weeks ago but he was at home and he’s a first-round draft pick with a year of experience.

Tony Gonzalez back to losing, this time with Falcons

Tight end Tony Gonzalez decided to play one final season for the Falcons because he wanted to make more run at a Super Bowl.

Something wrong with Falcons besides personnel

When a football team is 1-4 — regardless of whether that team was once considered a Super Bowl contender or never had much hope to being with — there can only be two reasons: 1) Bad players; 2) Bad coaching.

From bad to worse: The Falcons somehow lose to the Jets

This should have been the night the Atlanta Falcons got well, or at least better. It became the night a season going bad got unbelievably worse.
