Coupon Mom: Shop with circulars, Kroger free Fridays and more

By Coupon Mom

Shopping tips

Even if you don’t have time to make a detailed shopping list, be sure to pick up the store sales flyer when you walk in the door or review it on Sundays in the AJC package of circulars. It’s easy to miss bargains if you don’t see promotions detailed.

For example, Kroger has Doritos and Rold Gold pretzels on sale for $2 each when you buy two. If you only buy one, you’ll pay $2.50 each.  Kroger also has a promotion that gives you $1 off per Private Selection item when you buy four Private Selection items. That’s $4 off automatically at the register, which you would miss if you didn’t take a look at the flyer. Final prices with this promotion include $2.99 for a 48-ounce carton of Private Selection ice cream, 39 cents per 5.3-ounce cup of Private Selection Greek yogurt (down from $1.39 each) and $1 off per half-pound of Private Selection deli meat, which is a savings of $2 per pound.

Kroger Free Friday promotion

Kroger has a Free Friday Download promotion that gives you a digital coupon on your Kroger card for a free item.  As long as you download the coupon by midnight Friday, you can redeem it anytime by Oct. 12. This week’s download is for a free package of Hillshire lunch meat.

Deals on deodorant and dish soap

Palmolive: Walgreens has Palmolive Dish Liquid (10 ounce) on sale for 89 cents. Use the 50-cent coupon in the Sept. 22 SmartSource to pay 39 cents. Also, Rite Aid has 10-ounce Palmolive dish liquid on sale for $1 each. Go to RiteAid.com and find the Video Values section. You can print a $1-off-three Video Values store coupon and use three of the 50-cent coupons from the Sept. 22 SmartSource. Your net cost will be 17 cents per bottle.

Speed Stick: Check your Sept. 22 SmartSource for a mail-in rebate certificate that refunds the full purchase price of your Speed Stick deodorant purchase, up to $3.99. Walgreens and Rite Aid both have Speed Stick and Lady Speed Stick deodorant (2.3- to 3.25-ounce sizes) on sale “buy one, get one free.”  Use the 50-cent coupon from the Sept. 22 SmartSource circular.  Also use the mail-in rebate form in the same circular to get up to $3.99 refunded for one of the items.  You will end up getting both items free with a 50-cent profit, which will cover the cost of the stamp to mail in the rebate.

Mitchum: Walgreens has Mitchum or Lady Mitchum deodorant (2.25- to 2.7-ounce) on sale for $1.99. Buy two and use two of the $1 coupons from the Sept. 8 SmartSource to pay 99 cents each at the register. You will get 1,000 Balance Rewards points on two (value $1.25), so your net cost will be 37 cents each.
