Saturday, Sept. 28 is National Public Lands Day.

More than 175,000 volunteers nationwide are expected to visit and help improve their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests. It is the 20th anniversary of National Public Lands Day. You can celebrate by volunteering for one of the 17 projects throughout the state and metro area including those at: Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, Lake Allatoona, MLK Jr. National Historic site, Morningside Nature Preserve and Panola Mountain State Park. Visit the website linked above for full details.

You can also take advantage of fee free entry at the following state parks on Satuday. Each will waive fees ranging from $3 - $5 for the day:

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
