Catch the spirit of '76 at Krispy Kreme on Sat., July 13 when the doughnut shop celebrates its birthday with a buy-one-get-one for .76 cents deal.

Visit a participating location on Saturday, purchase one dozen Original Glazed doughnuts at regular price and get another dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for .76 cents.

The Original Glazed doughnut has been the best-selling product since the company was founded in 1937. That's when Vernon Rudolph rented a building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and began selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts to local grocery stores.  The smell of doughnuts cooking attracted passers-by so Rudolph hacked a hole in the wall and started selling hot Original Glazed doughnuts directly to customers on the sidewalk.

Today, most Krispy Kreme stores produce more than 3,000 doughnuts per hour and customers can use the HotLightApp.com to get alerts when hot, fresh doughnuts are ready at a nearby location.
