Kroger has a promotion this week that gives you $5 off your order when you buy five participating items. Stock up on free items, such as Gillette Fusion shave gel (7 ounce), on sale for $2.99. Use the $2 coupon from the July 28 P&G circular and you’ll get it free after the $1-per-item promotion savings. Lysol disinfecting wipes (35 count) are free after the Aug. 4 SmartSource coupon and promotion, Turkey Hill ice cream (48 ounce) is $1.49 after the July 14 RedPlum coupon and promotion, Mayfield ice cream (48 ounce) is $1.49 after the June 23 SmartSource coupon and promotion and Nestle Pure Life water 24 pack (half-liter bottles) is $2.49 after the July 28 RedPlum coupon and promotion. In addition, Perdue boneless chicken breasts are on sale “buy one, get one free” so it’s a stock-up price. Fresh peaches are 88 cents per pound, broccoli crowns are $1 per pound, green peppers are 69 cents each, cucumbers are 50 cents each and Olathe sweet corn is 33 cents each.

School supplies for a penny at Staples

Penny deals: Staples has school supply items on sale for one cent when you make a minimum $5 purchase. One-cent items include Staples school glue (4 ounce), two-pocket paper folders and slider pencil cases. Other deals include Roseart colored pencils (12 count) for 75 cents, Zebra retractable ballpoint pens (7 count) for $1, plastic rulers for 50 cents, three-pack erasers for 50 cents and Staples writing pads, letter size, for 50 cents.

SmartSource circular: Check last Sunday’s SmartSource circular for coupons to use on back-to-school supplies. Find a coupon for $1 off any Bic stationery item, which can make some items free at current sale prices. Also find a $1 coupon off any two Five Star products, $2 off any Five Star binder, and $2 off any Five Star filler paper products. For example, Staples has Bic Wite Out Quick Dry correction fluid (2 count) and Bic Velocity gel pens (2 count) on sale for 50 cents. Use the $1 Bic coupon to get the items free.

Save on personal care at CVS

Pantene: CVS has Pantene 12.6-ounce shampoo, conditioner or stylers on sale for $3.50. Use the $3-off-two coupon from the Aug. 4 circular to pay $2 at the register. You will get a $1 Extrabucks reward, so your net cost will be $1.50 each.

Dry Idea: CVS has Dry Idea deodorant on sale for $3 each. Use the $2-off-two coupon from the Aug. 4 RedPlum circular to pay $2 each. You will get a $2 Extrabucks reward on two, so your net cost will be $1 each.
