Email Overload. Entrepreneurs Needed

By Rick Hancock

Just got in from a business trip and I'll be back to regular blogging next week. Hopefully by then I’ll have figured out how I suddenly got over 98,000 unread emails on my iPhone!!!!

I know I didn’t check email a lot while I was away from the newsroom, but geez -- 98,000?!  It’s still hard for me to tell if it’s a bug/virus that duplicated my actual unread emails or the growing populairty of the blog that I've become a hit spammers.  If anybody has any thoughts about a fix shoot me an email…..on second thought, send me a tweet @rickhancock.

ENTREPRENEURS NEEDED

I was in New York most of the week visiting with top digital news organizations and journalism thought leaders.  The biggest takeaway from my meetings is that if you’re a tech entrepreneur looking for an underserved business sector take a close look at the journalism industry.

One of my meetings was with Jeff Jarvis.  Jarvis is a journalist, author and academic.  He also does a ton of media consulting and is the Director of the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism.  Jarvis is just one of the many leading a charge to encourage journalists to become entrepreneurs and in some cases entice entrepreneurs to become journalists.
