Plenty of Tech Stuff To Do At Dragon Con

By Rick Hancock

I don't currently have plans to attend Dragon Con this weekend, but if you’re going it looks like you’re going to a blast. And after sifting through the website I see a number of activities and events that align nicely with Atlanta's technology and startup scene.  I mean, come on, who can't excited about meeting Steve Austin (Lee Majors) - The Six Million Dollar Man ("We Can Rebuild Him, We Have The Technology”)!  Also scheduled to appear at Dragon Con are actors who portrayed other tech-inspired characters such as The Bionic Woman (Lindsay Wagner), Captain Kirk(William Shatner), Sulu (George Takei) and Lando Carlrissian (Billy Dee Williams)!

If you’re still in the dark about Dragon Con it’s an annual sci-fi, fantasy & comic fan convention. It was founded in 1987, it draws tens of thousands of fans to the downtown area. The event began as a project of the group, the Dragon Alliance of Gamers & Role-players.

Whether you’re a new fan or Dragon Con veteran, Access Atlanta has a pretty cool page you should check out before heading downtown. If you're really looking to feed your tech passions while at Dragon Con you'll probably want to stop by these tech-themed sessions or tracks:  Robots , Gaming and Science.

And If you're going, and own an iPhone, it's probably a good idea to download the official Dragon Con app. Dragon Con partnered with PassionTag for tagging and sharing photos during the convention. There's even a couple of fun-sounding contests involving the Passion Tag app that you might be interested in.  (For Android, Windows, and Blackberry customers, PassionTag has launched a Mobile-Web version)

I may have to rethink my plans about going. If I do, I'll dress up as a Tech blogger!
