So who ran in the rain last weekend?
Oh, come on, it wasn’t that bad.
Ok, fine, it was a little rough at times. I started a long run in some drizzle Saturday morning, but by the time I wound my way through over to Poncey-Highland and back again on Saturday, the drizzle had upgraded to a downpour.
Shoes, socks, gloves … everything was soaked.
As I said in my first blog post about preparing for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, I started running on a treadmill – in part to keep me “protected” from all of the elements. I did not share the same attitude as the United States Postal Service when it came to trudging along the rain, snow and sleet.
But if you’ve participated in the AJC Peachtree before – or if you haven’t – it’s no secret that July 4th is pretty hot around here. And I found out the hard way while running in an August 5K a while back that “race day” is not the first time to try running outside.
Even if you’re walking, shuffling or trying to high-tail it down Peachtree on July 4, it’s probably best to know how your body reacts to the heat and humidity beforehand.
And one of these days, the weather will warm up enough to test that out.
How hot is too hot for you to run?
