AJC Peachtree Road Race: your start wave and other housekeeping things

By Kristi E. Swartz

So about 10 of the conversations I had this morning started with “Did you get your number? What start wave are you in?”

Yep, the AJC Peachtree Road Race is almost here.

Here’s a laundry list of things to keep in mind. I’m basing this list on things that came up in conversation this morning.

Don’t have your bib number? Contact the Atlanta Track Club by email: racenumber@atlantatrackclub.org

Picking up your number at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo? Look for an email with instructions on how to do that. If you can’t make it to the expo, someone else can go for you, but make sure you have a copy of their ID and a printout or smartphone display of that email with the instructions on it.

Don’t like your start wave time? Here’s the skinny:

Start wave assignments are based on the results from a previous race submitted at the time of registration. Reassignments will only be made in the case of an error on the part of the Atlanta Track Club: participants cannot submit a new time or one different from the one used at registration. If no error was made in the original assignment, no reassignment will be made.

I know that can be frustrating. In fact, I registered for the AJC Peachtree and then completed a 10K with a much faster time. I’ll just submit that one next year.

Last thing – as I know a couple of people who registered for the AJC Peachtree and now are injured or won't be in town and subsequently won't be running. You can defer your entry, and here’s how to do that.

There's one more weekend to do a practice run. Get out there early and carry some water: temps look to be in the high 80s on Saturday.
