AJC Peachtree Road Race: an offer from MARTA

AJC Peachtree Road Race
MARTA has a deal for AJC Peachtree runners.

By Kristi E. Swartz

Good afternoon and happy first day of summer everybody.

We’re within the two-week countdown now to the AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Some friends have been telling me that they need to kick their training into high gear. There’s still time, and judging by the weather report, there will be plenty of opportunities to practice running in the heat.

Has your bib number with the start wave arrived in the mail? If you haven’t received it by June 24, contact the Atlanta Track Club. The ATC asks that you not call before then. I know, I’d be antsy, too, but hang in there just a couple more days. The ATC is handling thousands upon thousands of numbers.

If you are picking up your number at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo, I’ve included that information here.

I got an email from MARTA about something specifically for the big event. MARTA will be selling round-trip paper tickets for $6 at selected stations. This is to help runners, volunteers and race-goers get to the AJC Peachtree event and back more smoothly.

These tickets are not reloadable, and you must have cash to purchase them.

Some stations will require exact change as well.

 Here’s more info:

To help customers get to their destinations faster and avoid long lines at Breeze machines during the Peachtree Road Race, MARTA will have tables at select stations where customers can purchase one-time, round-trip paper Breeze tickets for $6, cash only.

These stations include Arts Center, Midtown, Doraville, Chamblee (on the northeast side of the station) and Dunwoody. Change will be available.

MARTA staff at other locations will also sell tickets but only with exact change.

These stations include Chamblee (on the southeast side of the station, Brookhaven, Lenox, Lindbergh Center (on the north and south sides of the station), Buckhead, North Avenue, Indian Creek, Hamilton E. Holmes and College Park (on the east and west sides of the station).

Additionally, MARTA will sell tickets and provide change from the cashiering facilities at North Springs and Sandy Springs stations.

Happy running.

A better Georgia Tech yields only an emphatic loss

Georgia Tech got the start it wanted and, at least for a little while, ran the option the way Paul Johnson wants it run.
