Last night I had a nightmare that I didn’t leave enough time to get to the AJC Peachtree Road Race.
On top of that, I was wearing layers of sweaters and a leather jacket and was scrambling to remove them before hustling to the starting line.
I think we all know that no one is going to be wearing a leather jacket in Atlanta in July – so clearly that issue went away as soon as I woke up.
But not leaving enough time to get to the Lenox Square Mall area on July 4 can lead to a nightmare scenario, unless you don't mind starting later than your designated time.
With 60,000 participants, not to mention all of the wonderful fans alongside Peachtree, getting to the big event can be a challenge whether you take MARTA or drive -- if you don’t allow some extra time.
I’m a fan of using MARTA to get to the race. But so are thousands of others. Chatting with all of the other runners is a lot of fun. Waiting in line to load up your Breeze card when there's a train approaching the platform is not.
Sometimes I get teased for leaving too early for a race. All I'm saying is, it gets a little crazy out there, so leave some extra time.
