It’s June 20th, do you know what that means? The AJC Peachtree Road Race is two weeks away.
How is the training going? It seems as if the heat and humidity is here for good, so for first-time Peachtree runners, if you haven’t been running outside, now is the time to do so to get used to what that feels like.
If family, work and just life in general have gotten in the way of running even just a couple of miles, don’t worry. It happens to all of us. There’s still time. Dont' give up. And, grab a friend or two to join you on your favorite trail or neighborhood route.
As I was standing in a gaggle of people waiting to start a 5K race last Saturday, I realized one of my favorite parts about racing is the sense of community – the one that comes from all of the runners as well as the people standing along the streets cheering everyone on.
Humidity aside, Saturday was a beautiful day for a race, and I was happy to share that with the other runners out there and some dear friends in particular.
That sense of community is one of the reasons why I run the AJC Peachtree.
So, I asked this question at the start of this blog, and I think with just one month ago, it’s fair to raise it again: why are you running on July 4th? And, do you have a favorite memory from a past race?
You're Almost Done!
