It’s dry now, but Atlanta could see showers late Friday.

And the next three days could bring 2 to 4 inches of rain to parts of North Georgia and  5 inches to others, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Widespread rains should hit metro Atlanta by 8 p.m. Friday, Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Showers are expected to taper off by 6 a.m. Saturday.

“But get ready,” Burns said. “It’s going to be a good weekend to curl up with a book or take a nap.”

A flood watch was issued for the North Georgia mountains, according to the National Weather Service. It is scheduled to go into effect at 7 a.m. Saturday and last through 7 p.m. Sunday.

“Although this is going to be a wet weekend,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said, “there will be some dry hours at times. A break between tonight's rain and Saturday afternoon means you will have some dry hours Saturday morning.”

Currently, the temperature is 57 degrees. The average high is 55 degrees this time of year.

The high is expected to hit 64 degrees Saturday and 70 Sunday, Channel 2 reported.
