NY Gov. Proposes Buying Back Sandy Damaged Homes

New Dorp Beach in Staten Island remains a part of the city visibly still recovering from Superstorm Sandy – even so, some residents are reacting with hesitation to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s latest proposal to buy damaged houses at their pre-storm value. Should it receive a green light, it would allow the governor to spend up to $400 million to buy homes in areas most vulnerable to flooding. There is, however, a cap to the offer — and it is not for expensive waterfront properties.
