China's Video Game Industry Waits For Consol-Ation

Most of the world's video game consoles are built in China... ...but they can't be sold there legally. The country banned the sale or import of video game consoles in 2000. The reason: fears they may harm children's development. China's gaming market is worth some $7 billion. Deprived of consoles, Chinese do their gaming online. The country had 336 million online game accounts as of end-2012... ...that is more than the population of the United States.
