Ellerbe not likely to play against Vanderbilt

Athens — Don’t look for Dannell Ellerbe to be back at middle linebacker for Georgia on Saturday.
Coach Mark Richt said Wednesday that he’s “not planning” on Ellerbe, out with a sprained knee since early in the Alabama game, being able to play against Vanderbilt.
“He’s struggling with his lateral movement right now,” Richt said. “I wouldn’t say he’s 100 percent out, but it’s doubtful.”
Darryl Gamble, who started in Ellerbe’s place last week against Tennessee, would do the same against Vandy.
Richt also said wide receiver Kris Durham, sidelined with an ankle injury since the Alabama game, is doubtful for Saturday.
But Richt said he sees “a very good chance” both Ellerbe and Durham could play Oct. 25 at LSU.
Etc.
Backup safety Quintin Banks has reinjured his knee and likely won’t play for several weeks. … Freshman linebacker Christian Robinson, who is being redshirted, broke an arm in practice this week. The injury won’t require surgery but likely will take four to six weeks to heal. … Vance will have surgery on his knee in about three weeks.
