Athens — Judy Magnus, the mother of suspended Georgia football player Jeff Henson, said Thursday she’s not optimistic that Richt will reinstate her son to the team.
“I wouldn’t think so at this point,” Magnus said via telephone. “Coach Richt is a good man, and he’s got to do what he’s got to do. But it’s not looking good right now.”

Henson, who was Georgia’s starting long snapper, was charged with public urination and public intoxication after his arrest in August outside a downtown Athens bar. Magnus said her son paid fines on the charges but was cleared of any UGA conduct-code violations in a student judiciary hearing last week. He remains in school and is scheduled to graduate in December.
Richt continues to deliberate the fates of both Henson and safety Donavon Baldwin, whom he suspended indefinitely after run-ins with the law the last weekend before preseason camp opened.
“I’m honing in on it,” Richt said of making a final determination.
“I think that’s part of the punishment,” Magnus said of the delay.
