For ajc.com

The Peabody Court Hotel of Baltimore served as a location for the Renee Zellweger film "My One and Only," now showing in theaters.

The hotel's travel package is a salute to the film, which is set in the 1950s and stars, in addition to Ms. Zellweger, Kevin Bacon and Chris Noth of Sex and the City fame. The film's story line is based on actor George Hamilton's upbringing by his mother along the Eastern Seaboard in the 1950s.

This upscale boutique hotel is in the heart of the arts district. Mount Vernon is a cultural urban village with museums, boutiques, theater, fine restaurants and a great nightlife. The neighborhood's historic centerpiece, built in 1815, is the Washington Monument. This area of Baltimore is generally regarded as one of the most beautiful urban sites in the world.

The Romance package at the Peabody Court includes overnight accommodations for two in a Deluxe room, valet parking, a bottle of champagne with chocolate-covered strawberries, breakfast for two in George's on Mount Vernon Square or with room service for two, and a guaranteed late check out of 2 p.m.

The double room rate of $189 includes room taxes. This rate is valid on stays through Dec. 22, but could be extended if the film receives any Oscar nominations.

When you visit Baltimore, don't miss seeing the most complete and comprehensive traveling exhibition ever created on Leonardo Da Vinci, making its East Coast debut at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Oct. 1.

"Da Vinci — The Genius" features more than 65 of Leonardo's inventions, many of which have been crafted by using techniques and materials of 15th century Italy, and numerous reproductions of his art including a scientific examination of the Mona Lisa.

The 10,000-square foot exhibition will be on display in the Legg Mason Gallery of the Maryland Science Center through Jan. 31, 2010.

The most popular year-round exhibits at the Maryland Science Center include: Dinosaur Mysteries with full-size dinosaurs and interactive paleontology activities; a day in the life of the human body in Your Body: The Inside Story; and dozens of interactive experiments in Newton’s Alley. Other attractions include the Kids Room, the five-story St. John Properties IMAX Theater, and the world-famous Davis Planetarium.

Adult admission to the museum exhibition halls range from $14.95-$20.95 (varies by extra exhibits visited such as the IMAX theater and Planetarium). The museum is closed Mondays, Tuesday.

Through Sept. 17, buy one-way sale airfare rates from $79, valid on trips to Baltimore finished on or before Jan. 27. A ten-day or more advance purchase notice required. Valid on off peak travel days and not over several blackout dates. Visit AirTran.com for bookings.
