For the AJC

Every season provides a great reason to visit Callaway Gardens. Plan to visit between Jan. 1 and Feb. 29, 2012 and enjoy complimentary admission (open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)!

For the fourth year, Callaway Gardens is inviting everyone to enjoy the simpler things in life, such as spending time with family and friends.

It may be Winter but there are lots of fun things to do and see at Callaway Gardens, such as witnessing butterflies emerging and taking flight in the warm, tropical Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center and exploring the beautiful John A. Sibley Horticultural Center with gorgeous floral displays.

Play in the outdoors and get a little exercise on one of the many walking trails or meander through the Gardens on the Discovery Bicycle Trail (bicycles are available for rent or bring your own).

For almost 60 years, Callaway Gardens has provided "a place of relaxation, inspiration and a better understanding of the living world" for millions of visitors. Owned and operated by the non-profit Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, Callaway Gardens includes a garden, resort and is home to a 4,610-acre forest preserve in Pine Mountain, Georgia (about a 90 minute drive from Greater Atlanta).

Highlights include a butterfly conservatory, horticultural center, the Callaway Discovery Center featuring spectacular Birds of Prey shows, a chapel, nature trails and special events throughout the year.
