Delta unveils nationwide airfare sale

It must be a blue moon. Delta Air Lines has initiated a nationwide airfare sale this week -- an extremely rate occurrence. The round-trip rates aren't jaw-dropping, but the list of destinations include a few in Canada, a couple in Alaska and contiguous states rarely discounted.

Here's a sampling of the sale destinations:

• $218 Bangor, Maine and Knoxville, Tenn.
• $238 Lubbock, Texas
• $248 Los Angeles
• $258 Grand Rapids, Mich. and Spokane, Wash.
• $268 Omaha, Neb. and Palm Springs, Calif.
• $278 Burlington, Vt. and Cody, Wyo.
• $288 Rapid City, S.D. and Tucson, Ariz.
• $298 Eugene and Redmond, Ore.
• $318 Boise, Idaho and Tulsa, Okla.
• $328 Little Rock, Ark. and Salt Lake City, Utah
• $338 Jackson Hole, Wyo.
• $348 Reno-Tahoe, Nev.
• $368 Albany, N.Y.
• $398 Ottawa, Ontario and Portland, Ore.
• $408 Bozeman, Mont.

These round-trip rates are valid on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Trip taken on other days are $20 higher, each way. Travel can begin on or after Aug. 17 and completed by Nov. 17 (travel to Fairbanks must be finished on or before Sept. 15). Plan to stay a minimum of a Saturday night and no longer than one month.

Buy tickets through July 29. Rates are exclusive of taxes, fees and surcharges. Factor about $20 per domestic round-trip and up to $120 on Canadian tickets.
