Few sounds in nature are more soothing than falling waters. For those harried souls who want to unwind, a bed-and-breakfast inn near a waterfall might just be the place.

BedandBreakfast.com has compiled a list of inns that offer spring getaways enhanced by waterfall tours and other bonuses.

Packages include a two-night stay with a full breakfast each morning, maps to the waterfalls and a picnic lunch for the day. Third nights are offered at 20 percent off. Rates range from $200 to $440. • Mountain Laurel Inn, Mentone, Ala.: DeSoto Park, a 10-minute walk from the inn, offers Indian Falls, Lost Falls and Laurel Falls. The waterfall package includes two nights' lodging, breakfast each morning, a guidebook to area waterfalls, two Mountain Laurel Inn water bottles, picnic lunch for two and two walking sticks. • Mountain Brook Cottages, Sylva, N.C.: The mountains of western North Carolina are dotted with waterfalls, including Dry Falls, Cullasaja Falls and Secret Falls. Book a two-night stay and receive a map detailing nearby treasures. Packets for kids include crayons with a map for coloring, snacks and other treats. • Red Horse Inn, Landrum, S.C.: Waterfalls, covered bridges, massages and fine dining are highlights of this waterfall package. After lunch, continue to Pearson's Falls and stroll to the Tryon Garden Clubs and the waterfall. End your day with a romantic dinner for two in a cottage, followed by a sunset carriage ride. Day 2 features a trip to the DuPont waterfalls, couple's massage back at the inn, then a romantic dinner at a fine-dining restaurant in Landrum. • Inn at Evins Mill, Smithville, Tenn: This circa 1939 inn, the former estate of U.S. Congressman Joe L. Evins and State Sen. Edgar Evins, is home to a historic grist mill. A short stroll on the grounds takes visitors to Carmac Falls, a 90-foot cascade that's Tennessee's 10th highest waterfall. At its base is a pristine swimming hole. • Creekwalk Inn at Whisperwood Farm, Cosby, Tenn.: Choose from self-guided hikes, each leading to a waterfall, where you can spread a picnic lunch. For experienced whitewater enthusiasts, there's mountain kayaking at Big Creek.
