Jay-Z to play concert on eve of Obama inauguration

WASHINGTON — Jay-Z isn’t performing at President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, but he is planning to make a big splash on the eve of the event.
The rapper, one of Obama’s biggest celebrity boosters, has announced that he’s playing a concert in Washington on Jan. 19, the day before Obama officially drops “elect” from his title.

Jay-Z joins the inauguration fray with a concert at D.C.’s Warner Theatre Jan. 19.
Jay-Z will perform for a crowd of less than 2,000 at the Warner Theatre.
Tickets go on sale Friday. Tickets cost $100, $375 and $500 each and are available through the theater’s Web site, www.warnertheatre.com.
