an open beer bottle, will you get in trouble?
Yes, according to a police spokesman.
What will be done to prevent long lines and backups?
Officials won't reveal how long each search should take, but at airports where searches are already being done they are brief and have not created logjams. However, Hartsfield-Jackson officials advise passengers to allow extra time, especially during peak morning and afternoon hours.

Take MARTA. If you must drive, take a car rather than an SUV or van, if possible. Empty your vehicle of anything, such as large boxes or a bag of fertilizer, that might generate extra scrutiny.
