The guide ranked Pawleys Plantation as one of the top golf courses in the United States, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico - describing the course as “one of Jack Nicklaus’ best designs,” and that the course “is an example of true Southern Golf all the way down to the plantation-style clubhouse.”
USAToday.com has called Pawleys Plantation “one of the snazziest resorts on the Grand Strand” and Travel + Leisure Golf magazine named it one of the most underrated golf resorts in the Southeast.
Pawleys Plantation, a 582-acre resort and golf course community, is in South Carolina Lowcountry - about an hour from Charleston, 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach and less than 15 minutes to Georgetown, a historic port town.
The resort offers an “Island” package that includes a four-night stay in the country club villas; four rounds of golf on your choice of Myrtle Beach courses - Pawleys Plantation, The Tradition, Caledonia and True Blue courses (including carts) and a daily breakfast buffet. Also included is access to the driving range and putting green, three restaurants and lounges, two tennis courts, two swimming pools, and secluded beaches.
Accommodations are in two- or three-bedroom villas with private entrance, living and dining rooms, fully-equipped kitchen and a screened veranda overlooking the fairways.
Package rates, based on double occupancy (per bedroom) are $802 on stays through April 26; $755 April 27-May 10; $701 from May 11-17; $548 May 18-June 14 and $506 from June 15-Sept. 9.
For an additional charge, guests can take a lesson or two at the Phil Ritson-Mel Sole Golf School, ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the top Golf Schools in America.
Through April 9, AirTran offers $39 one-way rates to Charleston on trips finished on or before Oct. 30. Rates are based on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday travel with other days (except Sunday) at $49. Delta matches.
